Edict No. 274-A — Providing a Public Form of District Turn Over Ceremonies

EDICT NO. 274-A

PROVIDING A PUBLIC FORM OF DISTRICT TURN OVER CEREMONIES

WHEREAS, Edict No. 274(Rentoy) established a uniform procedure in the turn-over ceremonies by the outgoing District Deputy Grand Master (DDGM) to his successor;

WHEREAS, the said edict provided the rules on the tyled form of turn-over ceremonies when the same is held at the stated meeting of chosen constituent lodge;

WHEREAS, there is a need to provide a public form of district turn over ceremonies to allow the attendance of families and friends of concerned district officials in the said occasion;

NOW THEREFORE, I, VOLTAIRE T. GAZMIN, Grand Master, by the powers in me vested by the Constitution under the jurisdiction of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines, do hereby promulgate the following amendments:

  1. Alternative Form, Venue and Date of District Turn-over Ceremonies - A public form of turn-over ceremonies may be held during the first stated meeting of the district for the month of May or at the date earlier than its stated meeting as per prior dispensation. The venue shall be at the district’s usual place of business or at one of its constituent lodges, at the option of the District.

  2. Organization of the District Officers - The election, appointment and installation of District Officers shall be held on this occasion.

  3. Installation of Grand Lodge Inspectors - Grand Lodge Inspectors may be installed collectively on this occasion of individually during the first stated meeting of the lodge to which the Inspector is assigned.

  4. Message of Outgoing DDGM - After the formal turn-over of the Gavel of Authority and the District Records to the incoming DDGM, the outgoing DDGM shall render his message to the district, followed by the message of the incoming DDGM.

All rules and procedures stated in Edict 274 shall be suppletory in so far as they are applicable and consistent with a public masonic ceremony.

This Edict shall take effect immediately upon publication and shall be read in open Lodge at the stated meeting following its receipt by electronic mail or otherwise, and that action thereon recorded in the minutes.
