EDICT NO. 321

ESTABLISHING UNIFORMITY IN THE POSITION OF THE SQUARE AND COMPASSES ON OPEN VOLUME OF SACRED LAW DURING OPENING CEREMONIES

WHEREAS, Edict No. 78 (MW Lacson) decreed that during the opening ceremonies of the First, Second and Third Degrees of Masonry, the Holy Bible should be displayed on the prescribed Psalms, Chapters and Verses in reference to their respective degrees;

WHEREAS, Circular No. 36 (MW Mateo) provided that the Square and Compasses should always be placed on the left-hand side of the Holy Book when opened and regardless of what degree the Lodge is open;

WHEREAS, Circular No. 25 (MW Aportadera) amended Circular No. 36 of MW Mateo and made a pronouncement that the Square and Compasses shall be placed at the center of the open Volume of Sacred Law;

WHEREAS, there is a need to establish uniformity in this jurisdiction on the position of the Square and Compasses on the open Volume of Sacred Law during the opening ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROMEO S. MOMO, Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines, by the powers in me vested by the Constitution, do hereby promulgate and decree that the position of the Square and Compasses shall be placed at the center of the open Volume of Sacred Law during the opening ceremonies.

This Edict shall take effect immediately and shall be read in open Lodge at the Stated meeting next following its receipt and duly recorded in its Minutes.
